What do we mean when we say Glocal?
Every faith-based organization and church develops its own identity or DNA based on a variety of elements. Typically, Theology, Culture, and Philosophy of Ministry make up the core of these elements. The uniqueness of the DNA is molded by these elements which permeate every part of the organization. Global Impact International’s DNA of Kingdom.Disciple.Society.Church (KDSC) is the foundation for our (GLOCAL) engagement strategies and is “how” and “why” we make disciples, care for children and families in need, empower our people and cities, multiply churches, and engage the world.
Global Impact values being “glocal”. Glocal is the convergence of the local and the global. This term was originally coined in the 1980s after Japanese farmers adapted farming techniques to local conditions. It is said that the founder of Sony Corporation, Akio Morita, first coined the English term from this original concept.
For the Church, the term “glocal” is a value that says the local and global converge into a strategic practice. That means that our global work informs our local work, and our local work informs our global work. These two are not separate, rather they are an extension of one another.
“Glocal” affects how we multiply churches and ministries locally and their impact globally. We make it our effort to start local churches and ministries who engage their city and the world from their city.
